Day One

The next morning, the 1st of September, after a much better sleep than last time (no ants in hammocks!) we started on our 6th Muir Trail hike, hoping to finish before cold weather arrived. As we followed the Lyle Fork upstream we noticed that the water level had dropped considerably since July! On the way we saw a coyote hunting in the meadow across the Lyle Fork, and we also saw several deer browsing. After a break at Lyle Fork bridge where we ate lunch, we continued on to our campsite along the stream just below the climb to Upper Lyle Base Camp.
